The map of fires is spreading to critical proportions throughout Albania. Guest on the show "Minuta e Parë" opposite journalist Ola Bruko in News24The head of Civil Emergencies, Haki Çako, has announced that there are currently 14 active fire outbreaks nationwide, of which 5 are considered a special priority due to the direct danger to forest areas and residential areas.
Çako focused particularly on the situation on Mount Tërbuni in Puka, where the dense mass of pine trees is preventing rescue teams from directly penetrating the main fire. According to him, strong winds and high temperatures are constantly changing the direction of the flames, complicating the work on the ground. He underlined that the main focus of the forces involved remains cutting off the fire's path to protect the residents' homes at all costs.
According to the head of Civil Emergencies, another serious fire remains in Bardhaj, Shkodra, where operational forces have been operating for 2-3 days, alongside other fires in Vau i Dejës and Malësi i Madhe. Due to the progress of the flames towards villages and forest crowns, an air intervention by helicopter has also been engaged in Lundër i Mat.
Active wildfires have also been recorded in Dajti Mountain, where intervention forces are working to isolate them. Çako stressed that this aggravated situation has affected almost the entire central and northern belt of the country, as a result of the prolonged drought and extremely high temperatures.
