The Vetevendosje Movement has denied that it is supporting as a political entity the protest that is being held in Albania for the 23rd day in a row.

This was announced by the member of the General Council of this party, Enver Dugolli, confirming that he is personally one of those who is supporting the anti-government revolt in Tirana, adding that other activists are also doing this individually.

"Vetëvendosje has nothing to do with this protest, we, some activists or some people, exponents, simply stand in solidarity with the citizens' legitimate demands, their legitimate concerns, and that's it, so it's not a question of Vetëvendosje from Kosovo or from any part having any special role in this protest," said Dugolli.

Dugolli has also asked Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama to refrain from comments towards the Vetëvendosje Movement.

"I think the language used by Rama about Vetevendosje does not do him any credit, I'm just repeating it once again, he should communicate with the revolted citizens of Albania, Tirana, all cities and the diaspora, so he should communicate with them and give an account, and reflect on their demands. There is no need to interfere or take any example from Vetevendosje or any statement by any Vetevendosje official because as I said, everything has to do with solidarity, that of Vetevendosje officials or any political entity that has to do with solidarity with the demands that arise from this protest, that revolt of the citizens," he said.

Dugolli advised Rama to, instead of dealing with Vetëvendosje, listen to the concerns of the citizens who are protesting against him.

"Prime Minister Rama should communicate with the protesters, those who have been filling Tirana's square, the streets of Tirana for several days in a row, and this protest is not about Vetëvendosje at all, it's simply Albanian citizens, the citizens of Albania, the diaspora in particular, expressing revolt against the current political class, therefore he should communicate with them and reflect on their demands," he said.

In one of his latest comments on the protests, Rama also mentioned members and supporters of the Vetëvendosje Movement, describing some of them as involved in what he called “a soup of devils.” However, he drew a distinction between them and Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
