Italy is known worldwide for its art, iconic landscapes and world-class food, but when it comes to driving culture, the situation is completely different. According to a recent global survey conducted by car rental platform Discovercars.com, Italy has been ranked as the country with the most aggressive drivers in the world.

According to survey data, around 23% of respondents stated that they had experienced erratic or reckless behavior while driving on Italian roads.

In second place is the United Kingdom with 11% of the vote, with the city of London emerging as one of the main hotbeds of aggression at the wheel. The ranking of the main countries is presented as follows:

Italy: 23%

United Kingdom: 11%

USA: 9%

France and Australia: 5% each

Spain and Turkey: 4% each

The survey also analyzed the actions that most disrupt drivers' work. Not using the signal is the main concern for the majority of drivers around the world:

Failure to signal on turns: 56%

Speeding: 46%

Slow driving in the passing lane: 43%

Instant braking: 20%

In another survey conducted by financial services company Remitly on the culture of courtesy in general, Italians again performed poorly. They ranked 24th out of 25 countries analyzed, trailing only Austria.

At the top of the table for general courtesy is Japan, where bowing is still considered a sign of high respect, followed by Canada in second place and the United Kingdom in third.

Meanwhile, when respondents were asked to rate themselves on their level of respect for foreigners, citizens of Brazil and Chile considered themselves the most polite in the world (with an average rating of 9.46 out of 10), followed by India (9.41), Sweden (9.40) and France (9.40). The Japanese, on the other hand, gave themselves one of the lowest self-ratings (8.73/10), despite the high ratings they receive from others.
