The Director General of the State Police, Skender Hita, reacted in a press conference regarding an incident that occurred at the Qafë Thana border crossing, where it was stated that three MPs of the Albanian coalition VALEN in North Macedonia, Bekim Çoku, Adnan Hazizi and Hasim Myrtezani, were detained by the Border Police.
According to Hita, a fourth person accompanying the 3 deputies with diplomatic passports did not have proper documentation, meaning that he was not allowed to enter our country. He added that the 3 deputies, under these conditions, did not accept to travel to Albania.
"The State Police and the border police are the guarantors of respect for the law. At the border, in Qafë-Thane, 4 citizens appeared, 3 with diplomatic passports. 3 of them were informed to continue crossing, one of them could not travel, as he did not have the documentation. These other 3 people did not accept to be separated and headed towards North Macedonia. This is not an isolated case, as these are cases known to the border police, it is daily work or there is no room for panic," said Hita.
