The head of the DP Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, has announced that on Monday he will file a criminal complaint with the Special Prosecution Office (SPAK) against Prime Minister Edi Rama and Minister Blendi Gonxhja, regarding the approval of a fund of 4.2 million euros for the Kanye West concert.
Bardhi has brought up Rama's statements when he once spoke out against several public events worth 1 million euros for the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of Independence, while now he is giving 4 million euros for a private concert.
According to the Democrats, the same standard should be applied today, as the 4.2 million euro fund was approved without a power of attorney and in accordance with the law, while these funds, according to them, should only be held for cases of natural disasters or external situations.
"When Edi Rama was in opposition, he denounced three public events, organized for the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of Independence, worth 1 million euros, describing them as an abuse of the law and an opportunity for corruption. The same Edi Rama, 14 years later, approves a fund of 4.2 million euros for a private concert, without any procedure, in flagrant violation of the law, with funds that should only be used in cases of natural disasters or extraordinary measures.
By the standard he himself has set, Edi Rama must be held criminally accountable for the abuse of 4.2 million euros of Albanian taxpayers.
Therefore, on Monday, the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party will file a criminal complaint with the Special Prosecution Office (SPAK) against Edi Rama and Blendi Gonxhja, who must be held accountable before the law and the citizens for the flagrant abuse of Albanians' money," writes Bardhi.
