A luxury carjacking in New Jersey ended in tragedy after four young men stole a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon worth about $220 and got into a chase with police. The fatal crash killed two people in another vehicle. The incident happened Saturday morning near the intersection of Route 50 and Third Avenue in Mays Landing. The G-Wagon collided head-on with a Hyundai, killing passengers Robert Barr Jr., 54, and Alice Stillwell, 67.

According to authorities, the 2024 Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon was stolen in the early hours of this morning. Police located the vehicle around 03:40 a.m. in Longport and an officer attempted to pull it over, but the driver sped away. Around 07:45 a.m., police located the vehicle again in Hamilton Township and began a pursuit. Officers lost sight of the G-Wagon just minutes before the crash.

The powerful impact sent the Hyundai hurtling toward a gas station. The two occupants, Barr and Stillwell, did not survive their injuries. After the accident, the four young men got out of the vehicle and attempted to flee the scene, but were arrested a short time later.

Among those arrested is 18-year-old Nayshaun Brown, while the other three are minors and their identities have not been released. All four face charges related to conspiracy to commit a felony, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and fleeing from police. Authorities have not yet determined which of the youths was driving the G-Wagon at the time of the crash. The investigation is ongoing to determine the full circumstances of the fatal accident.
