In Istanbul, Aston Villa triumphed in the grand final, with Unai Emery's team winning the Europa League trophy by "breaking" 3-0 Freiburg, a final without much history and totally dominated by the English team. For the second time in history, after 44 years, Aston Villa returns to win another European trophy. Unai Emery proved once again that he is an expert in this tournament, this was the fifth time in his career that he has won the Europa League, catching legends such as Trapattoni, Mourinho or Ancelotti. Interestingly, 3 of the 5 teams he has led to success in the Europa League have had a Villa, part of the name.

After a struggling start, the end of the first half was spectacular, where initially Tielemans gave Aston Villa the lead, while in extra time, it was Buendia who doubled the score with a super goal, making the rest of this match a formality. The story did not change in the second half, where Rogers in the 58th minute sent the score to 3-0. Freiburg was powerless to return to the game, while Aston Villa carefully managed the rest of the half, making the party all for the Aston Villa team, with Emery's team making a fantastic end to this season where after securing their presence in the Champions League, they also won the Europa League.

After the match, the architect of this success, Unai Emery, did not hide his emotions about this great achievement: "I am very happy. The team showed commitment and desire to win this final. This club is among the best in England and now it has secured its place in Europe. I am happy because our fans are experiencing emotions that not everyone experiences," Emery said.
