A 24-year-old man has been arrested in flagrante delicto in Tirana, after allegedly stalking and threatening a citizen through fake profiles on social networks, with the aim of extorting a sum of money from him.
The police operation codenamed "Accountet" was finalized by specialists from the Cyber Crime Investigation Sector, in cooperation with the Special Operational Force of the Tirana Police Department, under the direction of the Prosecution, after receiving notification of the case.
Citizen Klevis Gega, 24, a resident of Tirana, was arrested and caught red-handed while receiving the money.
From the investigative actions, it is suspected that the 24-year-old, using fake profiles on virtual platforms, has stalked and threatened citizen DP, forcing him to give him a sum of money.
During the operation, a sum of money and two mobile phones were seized as material evidence.
The police announce that work continues to identify other persons suspected of involvement and fully document the case.
The procedural materials have been referred to the Prosecution for the criminal offenses **“Stalking”, “Coercion by Threat to Give Up Property”, “Computer Forgery” and “Misuse of Equipment”.
