A small medical plane with four people on board crashed near Ruidoso, New Mexico, on Thursday morning, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The Beechcraft King Air 90 had taken off from Roswell Air Force Base and was heading toward Sierra Blanca Regional Airport when it crashed around 4 a.m. local time in a remote, wooded area, according to FlightRadar24.

Jason Burns, executive director of Lincoln County, where Sierra Blanca Regional Airport is located, said a fire was reported in the nearby Capitan Mountains. Burns said emergency personnel, the fire and police departments and other agencies are responding to the incident.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the FAA are investigating, the FAA said.
