Former Prime Minister of Kosovo and leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, spoke on the "Oponencje" show about economic policies and regional initiatives, focusing on both relations with Serbia and the "Open Balkans".
Haradinaj stated that the 100% tax on Serbian products, imposed during his government, if it had been maintained, would have contributed to strengthening economic integration between Kosovo and Albania.
"If this tax had been maintained, Kosovo and Albania would have been unified as a market," he declared.
He added that during that time there were complaints from large companies about the measure against Serbian products.
"Large companies have complained to me about the tax and I have told them: if you set up your company in Albania, we will receive the product tax-free, while they operate under Serbian legislation," said Haradinaj.
Speaking about regional cooperation, Haradinaj also touched on the "Open Balkans" initiative, which he said is open in principle, but with a clear political condition.
"I am for the Open Balkans but with one request: Serbia recognizes Kosovo," he declared.
According to him, such an initiative should guarantee equality between states and not create tensions or clashes between parties, emphasizing that every country should have the opportunity to cooperate freely with other states.
"The Open Balkans should have the opportunity for every state to be more open with other states, without upsetting the other parties," Haradinaj concluded.
