Analyst Fatos Lubonja commented on the show "Minuta e Parë" on News24, with journalist Ola Bruko, the opposition's claims to establish a parliamentary commission that will verify the accusations of former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj, including allegations of arms trafficking in Albania. Lubonja stated that the investigation should not be limited to a parliamentary commission, but according to him, a reaction within the ruling party itself is also needed.
"There should not only be a parliamentary commission here, but also a commission within the party. Because here are some puppets who are behind him. If they are not puppets commanded by him, they should speak out, but they are complicit," Lubonja declared. He also criticized the reactions to protesters who have accused government officials of corruption, specifically referring to the case of Iris Luarasi.
"They go and sue these protesters who call them 'thieves'. I have it for Iris Luaras. The chief thief is shining from all sides with his charade," the analyst said.
According to Lubonja, the situation has crossed the boundaries of a normal political and institutional debate. "It is no longer normal democratic life to set up parliamentary committees or courts. This is outright theft!", he said.
Focusing on the opposition protests, Lubonja described them as a historic event, emphasizing their duration. "It is a historic event. We will remember for a long time that Albanians stood up for 102 days in protest," he declared.
The analyst went on to say that if Albania were a true democracy, the protest would have brought more institutional reaction. "If we were in a true democracy, this protest would have done more work. A stronger reaction to this gang will be needed, otherwise another generation will end up under the governance of this gang," Lubonja concluded.
