Tirana International Airport (TIA) announces the launch of new regular services by AJet, connecting Tirana with Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW), further expanding travel options between Albania and Turkey.
Starting from March 2, 2026, AJet, Turkey's newest low-cost airline, will operate five weekly flights on the Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen - Tirana route, scheduled every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. In addition, AJet will also launch two weekly flights between Tirana and Ankara, further improving air connections between Albania and Turkey.
Both routes will be operated year-round, ensuring continuous and reliable air connections.
AJet’s entry into operations at TIA significantly improves connections between Tirana and the main aviation hubs in Turkey. Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport offers numerous further connections within Turkey and to international destinations, while the new service to Ankara offers direct access to the country’s capital, supporting government, business and institutional travel.

“The launch of AJet services at Tirana International Airport is an important addition to our growing airline network and a clear indication of the strong demand for travel between Albania and Turkey,” said Piervittorio Farabbi, Chief Operating Officer of Tirana International Airport. “The introduction of year-round flights to Istanbul and Ankara increases capacity and options for our passengers, supporting tourism, business travel and the close social and economic ties between our two countries. We are pleased to welcome AJet to TIA and look forward to a successful and long-term partnership.”
AJet CEO, Kerem Sarp, said: “We are pleased to launch flights to Tirana starting in March, from our two main hubs, Ankara and Istanbul. We will operate five weekly flights from Istanbul and two weekly flights from Ankara to Tirana International Airport. This new route will contribute to strengthening tourism and trade between the two countries.”
The new services are expected to serve a wide range of passengers, including tourists, business travelers and passengers visiting family and friends (VFR), as well as contribute to increased mobility for the Albanian diaspora and regional travelers using Tirana as a departure point.
This network expansion is in line with TIA's broader strategy to diversify airline partnerships and strengthen connections to key regional and international markets. Through continued year-round network expansion, TIA aims to provide passengers with more choice, better access, and a seamless and quality travel experience.
