An elderly protester, present at the rally in front of the Prime Minister's Office, raised concerns about what he described as the risk of money laundering and the change in the urban and cultural identity of cities.
"There is a risk of money laundering. This country has a serious problem with money laundering. The concern becomes even greater with the disappearance of spaces, the changing identity of cities and the return of land to large economic interests," he said.
According to the protester, the opposition is not related to the development, but to the way it is carried out and the consequences it may have for citizens. "We are not protesting against development, but against a development that can be done without Albanians, on their backs. We do not want towers to replace houses and concrete to replace identity," he said.
He demanded transparency about assets and large projects, warning that Albanians should not lose their land, history and culture for the benefit of a small group.
"Albanians should not lose their population, land, history and culture to enrich a group of people. We demand transparency about the assets and possible projects. Albania is not the property of Edi Rama or the oligarchs. Albania belongs to Albanians," the protester declared. In the end, he closed his speech with strong political calls against the leaders of the two main political camps.
