Democratic Party MP, Belind Këlliçi, invited to the studio of the show "Kjo Javë" in News24, commented on the political situation in the country and the accusations that the opposition addresses to Prime Minister Edi Rama. He focused in particular on the invitation that Albania has received from the United States to be part of the Peace Board, which could also mean a meeting of Rama with President Donald Trump.

Këlliçi emphasized that the invitation is not personal to the Prime Minister, but is addressed to the Albanian state. According to him, the President of the Republic has delegated representation to the Prime Minister for this activity.

"The US invitation to the Peace Board has been received by the Albanian state and the president has given full authority to Edi Rama to go there," said the Democrat MP.

He then brought to attention the case of former minister Saimir Tahiri, recalling that he had met with former President Barack Obama shortly before facing justice.

"Saimir Tahiri met Obama shortly before he was arrested as a drug trafficker," Këlliçi declared.

The DP MP added that, according to him, the US has strong institutions that continue to do their job regardless of political developments. He also mentioned reports by international media, such as VICE, Washington Post and Washington Examiner, which according to him have addressed issues related to the narco-state phenomenon in Albania.

"We have been compared to Mexico for the government's connection to gangs, crime and drug cartels," said Këlliçi, emphasizing that these perceptions damage the country's image in the international arena.
