Albania has officially opened the final chapter in its negotiations for accession to the European Union, marking an important step in the integration process. The news was confirmed by EU Commissioner Marta Kos, who praised the country's progress and the commitment of Albanian institutions to implement essential reforms.

In her statement, Kos described the day as a historic moment not only for Albania, but also for the European Union:

"Today is a special day not only for Albania, which opens all chapters, but also for the EU. This shows that the European Union delivers results and that we can rely on Albania." She stressed that progress would not have been possible without the strong commitment of Albanian institutions in implementing important reforms, as well as without the support of member states.

"This success is the result of the work of the authorities and Albanian citizens who seek change and support it. Albania is the best example of the transformative power of enlargement," she asserted.

The Commissioner underlined that the opening of all group chapters is an important achievement, but the main challenge remains their closure:

"Opening is success, but closing chapters is the real price. Success is measured by the speed and seriousness of the adoption and implementation of legislation," she added. With this development, Albania enters the final phase of the negotiation process, being considered by the EU as a model of inspiration for other Western Balkan countries.
