Another renowned international referee has announced his retirement from refereeing. Anthony Taylor has ended his career in elite refereeing, ending a career spanning over 20 years and 831 matches. The 47-year-old refereed the final match of the World Cup, between Portugal and Spain.

During his career, Taylor refereed 432 Premier League matches, the most important finals in English football, as well as two World Cups, two European Championships and several finals of major UEFA competitions.

In his farewell message, he thanked his family, colleagues and associates for their support over the years, while Howard Webbe described Taylor as one of the best referees English football has produced.
