Apple today announced plans to invest more than $500 billion in the United States over the next four years and promised to create 20,000 new jobs, as US President Donald Trump pressures American companies to bring their manufacturing back to the US.

“Apple today announces its largest spending commitment ever, with plans to spend and invest more than $500 billion in the U.S. over the next four years,” the tech giant said. It said it wants to fund projects in the areas of Artificial Intelligence, engineering and education.

Its plans also include increasing the capacity of existing US manufacturing sites, as well as building a new factory in Houston, Texas, by 2026, to produce servers that were previously manufactured "outside the US," the press release details, specifying that this new site "will create thousands of jobs."

Overall, these projects will allow for the hiring of 20,000 additional employees over the next four years, Apple claims.

Trump Thanks Apple

At the same time, the US president in a post thanked the company for its investment and emphasized: "Apple announced a record investment of 500 billion dollars in the US. The reason is, the trust in what we do, without which they would not invest even 10 cents. Thank you Tim Cook and Apple."
