There is no case of hantavirus in Albania. This is what the IHP stated in a media release. According to the IHP official, no case has appeared on the European continent.

Among other things, the IHP emphasizes that there is no risk of a pandemic.

"There is no risk at all. The risk for Albania and the continent is very low. There are no restrictions on travel and trade, not only for Albanian citizens but also for Europeans. The assessment is based on several criteria, firstly because starting from the outbreak on the cruise ship, the type of rodent that has been reserved does not exist in Europe and Albania. Hantaviruses are a group, the type discovered on the ship is transmitted only in close and long-term family contacts from person to person. The other types circulating in Albania are not transmitted between people. We are taking measures so that in case we have a case, it will be isolated and traced.
"There is no room for panic, the health service across the country is ready to quickly identify any potential cases," he said.
