The Saranda Prosecution Office, in an official reaction, emphasizes that the judicial police officer in Saranda, citizen Edmond Ruçi, has been detained at the request of the Prosecution Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction, Saranda, suspected of the criminal offense of 'Passive corruption of persons exercising public functions'.

Saranda police officer Edmond Ruçi is accused of the criminal offenses of 'Abuse of office' and 'Corruption'.

The arrest was carried out following investigations, registered for the criminal offense of "Production and sale of narcotics" provided for by article 283/2 of the Criminal Code against citizens Keivin Duro and Adriel Zanaj, after 24 doses of suspected narcotic substance cannabis sativa were found and seized in the vehicle driven by citizen Adriel Zanaj.

These citizens were arrested in flagrante delicto and investigations are ongoing. During the investigation of this case, suspicions arose of involvement in illegal activities by the judicial police officer who was investigating the case in question, citizen ER.

As a result, the prosecutor in charge conducted investigative actions, which resulted in data on the involvement of the officer investigating the case in suspected corrupt actions, and he was issued with an arrest warrant for a crime for the criminal offense of "Passive corruption of persons exercising public functions" provided for in Article 259/2 of the Criminal Code.

The judicial police officer has been detained by AMP services and investigations are ongoing.
