Journalist Osman Stafa received a threatening message through an anonymous profile on social media, an action that was condemned by the Network for Safe Journalists in the Western Balkans.
News 24 journalist Osman Stafa has been threatened through an anonymous message on the social network Instagram, an action that is clearly related to his denunciations of the situation at the Oncology Hospital. The Safe Journalists Network in the Western Balkans reacted to this episode, condemning the act and calling for an investigation by legislative institutions.
"The SafeJournalists Network condemns the threatening message sent to Albanian journalist Osman Stafa on December 11, 2025, following his reporting on the conditions and shortcomings of services at the Tirana Oncology Hospital," SafeJournalists' response reads.
For years, Stafa has not only reported on current events in Albania, but also denounced the lack of medicines and treatments for cancer patients at the Oncology Hospital in Tirana.
The anonymous message on Instagram, written in vulgar and aggressive language, openly warned him not to return to Oncology, clearly aiming to intimidate him and hinder him from carrying out his journalistic work.
SafeJournalists calls on the Albanian authorities, especially the State Police and the Prosecution, to ensure that this case is treated as a priority and the perpetrators are identified and prosecuted./Reporter.al
