In Thursday's plenary session, the chairman of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, defended the activity of the MBM company's port in Porto Romano, opposing the opposition's criticism of the lack of capacity and problems in the port sector.
During the debate in the Assembly, Balla criticized the opposition's tone, comparing it to the discourse of the years of "class warfare".
"Come here and speak to us like you used to in this hall. They talked about class warfare, not you, not him," he said, addressing MP Redi Muçi of the Joint Movement.
He stressed that attacks on business are unjustified and that companies contribute to public finances through taxes.
"We mention here the names of businessmen who pay taxes... a portion of their taxes also pays your salary," Balla declared.
Referring specifically to the MBM company's port in Porto Romano, Balla stated that it still has unused capacity.
"That port today only has 20 percent of its capacity occupied and there is space," he said.
Balla dismissed the opposition's concerns about a lack of capacity, guaranteeing that the government has properly planned the sector.
"This government has properly planned our processing capacities in the maritime transport sector," Balla emphasized.
In conclusion, he described the MBM port as one of the most important assets in the region.
"That port there is the best example of how this government has known how to plan in time, and today we have one of the ports with the greatest working capacity in the Adriatic Sea," he concluded.
