Avenir Peka, invited to the studio of the show "Oponencë" in News24, has commented on the latest developments regarding the suspension from office of Belinda Balluku, who has been officially declared a defendant by SPAK and is being investigated for the Llogara tunnel procedures, while the GJKKO has decided to suspend her functions as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister.
Peka stated that, in his opinion, responsibility for the affair does not stop with Balluku, but is directly linked to Prime Minister Edi Rama.
"The Balluku issue is the Rama issue. Balluku has Edi Rama behind it. Every affair has Rama's hand behind it, and the communications that have been made public show this. They left 50 million euros to Balluku in vain," Peka said.
He underlined that the tender process for the Llogara tunnel had, according to him, obvious irregularities.
"There were lower offers, but the offer of 140 million euros was chosen. There was also an offer of 115 million euros with three tunnel entrances and they did not accept it. The 140 million is Balluk's share; everything above that figure is Edi Rama's," he said.
According to Peka, the prime minister is facing a difficult political and legal dilemma regarding his stance towards Balluk.
"Rama is between two alternatives: to release Balluk or to keep him. Neither of them is a good alternative for him. He has his back to the wall," he stressed.
During the analysis, Peka also commented on the pressure that Balluku may feel in the investigative process.
"You don't keep someone else's guilt in prison with you," he said, implying that Balluku will not accept responsibility for decisions where, according to him, the head of government also had a role.
"Balluku is a woman who can't stand prison. Unlike others, in psychology it is said that women are not guilty even when they are guilty. A woman doesn't carry someone else's guilt with her in prison," he said.
