Tensions continue in the protest of residents of the Patos-Marinza oilfield, who have been opposing the terms of land lease contracts with the Bankers Petroleum company for days.

This morning, the protest moved near the site premises, where residents forced open the door of Satellite Square 3. They demanded that the contracts be reviewed and oppose the halving of the land rent.

The protest held two days ago near the offices at the source did not lead to negotiations with the company representatives. Faced with the lack of an agreement, residents had warned that they would continue the protest by blocking the squares where the company's activities take place.

As they had warned, they gathered today in front of Bankers Petroleum's satellite plaza 3 and forced open the door, entering the plaza's premises.

The residents say they will not allow the land rent to be halved, which they believe could drop from 4 million lek per dunyam to 2 million lek. For this reason, they are demanding the termination of the current lease contracts and are opposing the new terms.

However, their attempt to stop the employees did not proceed, as according to the protesters, such an action would expose them to legal penalties.

For this reason, the residents have decided to change the way they protest. Starting tomorrow, they have announced that each of them will continue the protest on their own land, in defiance of the terms of the lease contracts.
