Kosovo's chief diplomat Glauk Konjufca called on Serbia at the UN Summit to face reality and recognize Kosovo as a state.
The Foreign Minister added that Serbia has played a destructive role by trying to interfere in Kosovo's internal elections, A2CNN reports.
"Kosovo remains ready to normalize interstate and neighboring relations, however, the obstacle to peace and normalization of relations remains Serbia, which is neither interested in normalizing relations with Kosovo nor in joining the EU. We call on Serbia to face its own reality and recognize Kosovo as an independent and sovereign state and not hold the entire region hostage to a hegemony," said Konjufca.
"Belgrade has continued to play its destructive role by trying to interfere in the elections, by trying to support the Serbian List in the elections in Kosovo, aiming to reflect its leadership with a ruling party. We have prevented such foreign interference and have managed to preserve the dignity of our democratic institutions," he added.
