Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted to Sali Berisha's statements about a violent event from his past, categorically denying the version that it was a "crime of passion".

Asked by journalist Rudina Xhunga about Berisha's statement that Rama was raped and had his nose broken while with a man, the prime minister said he did not want to deal with the former prime minister's statements. "I don't want to deal with that mouth, except during campaigning. It's beyond any age limit," Rama said.

He also explained the circumstances in which he was at the time of the incident, denying that he had been with a man.

"It was not related to a crime of passion, I was not with a man, but with a girl I lived with and with a boy who lived in our apartment, who came from Shkodra," Rama declared.

The Prime Minister also spoke about the person who, according to him, was the perpetrator of the attack, saying that he had been identified and that he had passed away some time ago. "The perpetrator is known, I took the repentance as if I did not understand it. He passed away some time ago. He did not confess the crime to me, but he repented by showing me friendship. It was an interesting thing," said Rama.
