The political leader of the Democratic Party for the Diaspora, Jozefina Topalli, commented on "Open" on News24 the issue of declaring the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, "persona non grata", stating that this battle was won by him from the moment he regained the leadership of the party.

Topalli also touched on the changes in the US administration, hinting that the decision to “non-grata” Berisha was politically influenced and that the perspective could change. She accused Edi Rama and Lulzim Basha of being part of a joint lobbying in the US to declare Berisha undesirable.

“When I hear Rama recall the non-grata issue, I am reminded of the moment when he told Berisha in the Assembly that he would not be able to cross the ocean – a sign that this was a planned move,” Topalli said.

According to her, since coming to power, Rama has followed a clear strategy not through good governance, but through the destruction of the opposition.

"In the first 8 years, he had the opposition leader, Basha, in his pocket. When Berisha was there, he arrested him," Topalli concluded.
