An unusual incident caused disruption at Thessaloniki's Macedonia Airport on Thursday evening (August 6th), after a flight bound for Germany was cancelled for security reasons.

Around 150 passengers who were scheduled to travel on this flight were forced to wait for a long time at the airport until the airline informed them of the cancellation of the departure.

During the technical inspection of the aircraft before the flight, the presence of a bird in the engine was detected. Due to the potential danger, the authorities and the technical team decided not to take off.

Following the discovery, safety procedures were activated to remove the bird and conduct a full engine inspection, in accordance with aviation protocols.
Passengers were informed that the flight to Germany will take place today, after all necessary technical checks are completed.
