A significant deterioration in the security situation in the Black Sea has been recorded in recent days, following a new wave of drone and missile attacks on Ukrainian cities. The attacks took place during the night of May 17-18, 2026, hitting Odessa, one of the most important ports in the region, as well as the city of Dnipro.

The attacks reportedly targeted port infrastructure, industrial facilities and residential areas. In Odessa, according to preliminary data, residential buildings, a school and a kindergarten were hit, while injuries were also reported. EOS Risk Group warns that the situation remains extremely tense, while air strikes continue intermittently, keeping the risk level high throughout the Black Sea region.

Experts emphasize that the possibility of damage to critical maritime infrastructure cannot be ruled out, which could directly affect the functioning of ports and the flow of goods transport in the region. For this reason, ships operating in the Black Sea are required to exercise maximum vigilance, with continuous monitoring through radar and optical systems 24 hours a day, as well as the implementation of additional security measures.

Experts also recommend immediately reporting any suspicious activity to the competent authorities and monitoring real-time air threat warnings, as the situation in the region remains fluid and unpredictable for navigation.
