The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Andis Salla, today introduced the new Director General of the National Food Authority (AKU), Blerina Gjylameti, in a meeting with the institution's management team.

Gjylameti was appointed head of the AKU yesterday, while today former SP MP Gjylameti officially took office.

During the presentation, Minister Salla emphasized the importance of efficient leadership and management of the institution, as well as the key role of food safety in the European integration process. “We shared with the management team the importance of efficient work management and increased attention to food safety, which remains a national priority and an essential pillar of our integration process into the European Union,” the minister said.

Salla emphasized that the AKU will continue to strengthen its institutional role in the service of citizens and business. “The AKU will continue to strengthen public trust and its key role in guaranteeing safe and quality food, through risk-based controls and increased professionalism of inspections, in the service of consumers and business,” emphasized Salla.

In conclusion, Minister Salla expressed his gratitude to the current head of the institution and thanked him for his commitment and contribution, and wished success in his new position to the Director General, Blerina Gjylameti.
