In the early hours of the morning, bombings took place in Caracas. US President Donald Trump confirmed that the attack was carried out by the US.
He also said that Nicolas Maduro has been captured by the Delta Force, underlining that he and his wife have fled the country.
Meanwhile, following these developments and rising tensions, Venezuela has requested an urgent meeting of the United Nations Security Council in response to the US attack on the country, said Foreign Minister Yván Gil Pinto.
"No cowardly attack will prevail against the strength of this people, who will emerge victorious," he said.
