Britain announced that it is sending its warship HMS Dragon to the Middle East.
This is an effort to protect ships in the Strait of Hormuz, as soon as conditions allow.
HMS Dragon is an air defense destroyer and was deployed to the Eastern Mediterranean in March, shortly after the start of air strikes against Iran, helping to defend Cyprus.
The destroyer's deployment to the Middle East follows a move by France to deploy its aircraft carrier strike group to the southern Red Sea, as the two countries collaborate on a defense plan aimed at restoring confidence in the maritime trade route.
