The story of Migena Kodra, who was killed by her brother-in-law while sleeping in the same bed with her 2-year-old daughter, an event that shocked public opinion, was brought to light today on the show 'With an Open Heart' on News24 by author and moderator Evis Ahmeti. After Migena's murder, the brother-in-law committed suicide in the yard of the apartment, while his parents, including his mother, were awakened from their sleep by gunshots.
The incident also remains a mystery, as the murder weapon was found far from the body of Migena's brother-in-law. Migena's husband claimed at the time that he had not been home at night for a year, as he worked as a taxi driver on the third shift. When questioned by the editorial staff of the show "Zemër të Hapur", he said that there had been no previous conflict that could have led to such an action.
Although two years have passed since this tragedy, Migena's two children are in a conflict over the custody of the children, who are staying with their grandfather and grandmother. On the one hand, Migena's father, Mr. Kasemi, confessed that for more than a year he had been fighting legally with his son-in-law, demanding the return of the children to the same apartment where their mother was killed. Apparently, the court has decided that the children will live with their father in the last session. Meanwhile, amidst tears, the victim's father is demanding justice today, while raising suspicions that her husband may have had a hand in the crime.
He also said that he had spoken with his daughter a few hours earlier, and the latter had told him that she had had a heated argument with the man's family.
"The main reason was a soft loan. They discussed it in the family, they wanted to take it for the reconstruction of the house. Her ex-father-in-law told her; go with the daughter-in-law and ask for a loan. They went together, and told the mother-in-law; you are not allowed to do it because you are disabled, but the daughter-in-law can benefit from it. They went to the house and started arguing and said; the village woman will take our house. The argument broke out. Instead of thanking her, they put a bullet in her in the middle of the night. She called me late, I said are you okay; okay. She said; oh dad, they are cursing me, me and my mom. It was a quarter to 12. I told her to come and pick me up now, no, she said; come and pick me up later. I got up at a quarter to 4, and I went to the bar and the waiter said; this idiot killed my sister-in-law. I saw the initials and my mind immediately went, oh I said that's my girl. The police then picked me up and said; Come on, give the little girl a break because she won't stop. (crying). The gun was found behind the house and 34 million lek on the roof of the house. The investigation says so; that my daughter's brother-in-law killed her. But to kill yourself twice with a bullet, who knows. There are no traces, they have been erased. Only the girl's mother-in-law is a witness to the event. I don't believe that the brother-in-law is the murderer. It's difficult. But I have left it in the hands of justice. We don't know the exact time of death. They didn't call the police, but the neighbors. When I asked the girl why she didn't call her husband after the fight, she told me; she won't answer the phone. I have faith in justice, I'm waiting for it," he said.
Meanwhile, in a phone call for the show today, Migena Kodra's husband claimed that he had left the matter to justice, while adding that he did not want to talk about personal matters. "I haven't seen my children for a year and a half. I have left the matter to the court. I don't want to talk, these are our personal matters. Come on, health, ciao ciao," said the deceased's husband.
