An eyewitness working at the building told the New York Post that the collision was accompanied by a loud noise and parts of the scaffolding collapsing, causing panic among passersby on the sidewalk.
The bus driver was immediately transported to Bellevue Hospital, where he is receiving necessary medical treatment.
A video shared on social media shows the bus crashing, with the front end stuck to the pavement and the rear end still blocking a lane of traffic. Authorities are investigating the circumstances and causes that led to the accident.
