Journalist Renaldo Salianji, guest on the show “Studio24” IN News24 spoke about what is happening on the ground, emphasizing the destruction of rare habitats in Zvërnec.
He also analyzed the nature of the civic protest regarding the situation, describing it as a pure civic movement that is growing day by day.
Salianji stated that the intervention with heavy machinery has left behind serious and irreversible consequences for the fauna and flora of the area, even if the works were stopped immediately.
"Concrete has been poured there, the dunes and turtle nests have been destroyed. The damage there, even with all the work that has been done, cannot be recovered right now. Imagine if the work continues there," the journalist warned, testifying that living things and centuries-old sandy structures are being directly affected.
Drawing a parallel with major civil society movements in Albania, Salianji explained how this protest differs from rallies organized by political parties, and noted the rapid increase in the number of participants.
"Civic protests are distinguished from political ones by banners. In the protest over chemical weapons, the student one, or today's one, the banners have been creative, unlike political protests. We have the examples."
"From day to day there has been a huge increase in protesters. On the first day there were a smaller number, then citizens joined the march. Yesterday there were more citizens, today there were twice as many as yesterday," he concluded.
