Democratic Party MP, Jorida Tabaku, has accused the government of applying fiscal policies that favor KAYO companies, while farmers and livestock keepers face a high fiscal burden.

In a public reaction, Tabaku cites as an example a recent government initiative to include in the list of machinery exempt from VAT the equipment used or to be used by the KAYO company.

According to the Democratic MP, while companies linked to government investments are quickly granted fiscal relief, farmers and livestock breeders have long requested a reduction or relief of VAT for agriculture, but their request has been rejected. Tabaku emphasizes that agriculture accounts for about 15% of GDP and employs a significant portion of the population, while the sector is facing major economic difficulties.

The MP also argues that countries in the region apply lower rates for basic food products, increasing the competitiveness of their producers, while according to her, the Albanian government's policies are burdening farmers and weakening "Made in Albania" products. In conclusion, Tabaku describes this approach as a "personal state" and accuses the socialist government of favoring a privileged minority to the detriment of the majority.

There has been much talk about custom laws and the personal state. However, there are still citizens who wonder how such a policy can be distinguished.

Here's a fresh example.

A few weeks ago, the government took an initiative to include in the list of machinery exempt from VAT those used or to be used by the KAYO company.

Meanwhile, for more than a term, farmers and livestock farmers have been demanding VAT relief for agriculture—a sector that accounts for about 15% of GDP, employs a large portion of Albanians, and is experiencing one of the strongest declines in our economy.

In every discussion in the Committee on Economy and Finance, the ministers responsible for agriculture have rejected this request.

There is no solution for farmers. For companies close to the government, there are immediate tax exemptions, strategic investor status, and public land.

Countries in the region apply lower rates to food basket products, making their producers more competitive. The socialist government, on the contrary, continues to burden farmers with VAT, weaken “Made in Albania” products, and fuel informality.

A government on the side of a privileged minority and against the forgotten majority.

This is the personal state. This is the socialist system.
