Actor Matthew Perry's former personal assistant was sentenced today to 3 years and 5 months in prison after being found guilty of involvement in administering the fatal dose of ketamine that led to Perry's death in October 2023.
The defendant, Kenneth Iwamasa, 60, was also sentenced to two years of probation and ordered to pay a $10,000 fine.
According to prosecutors, he collaborated with two doctors to obtain and distribute doses of ketamine worth over $50,000 in the weeks before the actor's death.
Iwamasa, who had no medical training, pleaded guilty in August 2024 to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine resulting in death.
He faced a maximum sentence of up to 15 years in federal prison.
The prosecution had requested a sentence of around three years and five months, while the court found that the defendant was aware of the actor's addiction problems and that he had attempted to hide evidence after the incident.
During the hearing, he expressed regret for his actions, stating that he would bear responsibility "for the rest of his life."
