The journalist of News24Osman Stafa has reported to the police a death threat received through a message on social networks.

Following his report, the State Police reacted, stating that they have referred the procedural materials to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office, while investigations continue to identify the author. According to the police, the message is suspected to have been sent from a fake account.

As part of the investigation, the materials have been referred to three criminal offenses, “Computer Forgery”, “Stalking” and “Intimidation”. The authorities are working to fully document the circumstances and clarify the case. The State Police declares that it will react to any form of threat or pressure against journalists in the exercise of their duties.

The State Police structures have referred the procedural materials to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Tirana, following the complaint of citizen OS, 34 years old, resident of Tirana, who stated that he received a message with threatening content on his social network account.

The message is suspected to have been sent from a fake account. As part of the investigation, efforts are underway to identify the author and fully document the circumstances of the case.

The procedural materials have been referred to the Prosecutor's Office, for the criminal offenses of "Computer Forgery", "Stalking" and "Threat", provided for by articles 186/a, 121/a and 84 of the Criminal Code.

Investigations continue under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, with the aim of fully clarifying the circumstances of the case and identifying the person responsible.

The State Police is maximally committed to guaranteeing order and security, the life and property of citizens and, in particular, the safety of journalists in the exercise of their duties, by reacting to any form of threat, intimidation or pressure that violates their security and freedom to practice their profession.
