25 automatic rifle cartridges, all fired from the same weapon, were seized at the site where Aleksandër Koçeku was executed in the village of Lin, in the Karma e Kiri area, along the Kir-Prekal axis. It was a random passerby who noticed the vehicle with the victim inside and immediately notified the police.
The initial investigation by the investigative team shows that the perpetrator or perpetrators ambushed the 40-year-old man and shot him with automatic rifle fire.
The victim moved carefully due to the blood feud and worked in a bakery.
Investigators are reviewing security camera footage along the route he traveled, although there are no cameras in the area where the assassination took place, making it difficult to unravel the incident.
Sources close to the investigative group indicate that the main lead on which the investigations are focused is related to a previous murder, the execution by gunfire of Angjelin Shkambi in December 2017.
Then, today's victim's brother, Artan Koçeku, shot Shkambi with 10 bullets, after he had called him to a meeting.
According to the investigative file at the time, the conflict was related to a debt of 40 thousand euros, but also to a matter of honor, as the victim had had an affair with the Koçeku brothers' sister. Artan Koçeku is serving a sentence for that murder.
Aleksandër Koçek's family stated that they suspect that the assassination was carried out for blood feud, linking it precisely to the murder of 9 years ago.
The victim's cousin, Mark Koçeku, said that their family has been in a blood feud since 2017 when Angjelin Shkambi was killed and that the victim, Aleksandër Koçeku, moved cautiously for fear of revenge.
Meanwhile, Aleksandër Koçeku was also under investigation in the case of the murder of Pavlin Preka that occurred last year, while the Shkodra Prosecution Office a few days ago extended the investigation deadlines for this matter by three months.
According to the prosecution, he is suspected of being involved, together with Vasel Koçek and Klaudio Lisaj, in planning and carrying out the murder of 19-year-old Pavlin Preka in February 2025, as the latter was planning to kidnap Vasel Koçek's daughter to get engaged to him even though she did not agree.
The Police and the Prosecution continue their investigations to fully document the event, identify and arrest the perpetrator or perpetrators of the murder of Aleksandër Koçek.
