Rescue teams continue to search through the rubble in Colombia, a day after a powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck, leaving at least 224 dead and hundreds injured.

Dozens of emergency teams are working to find people believed to be trapped under the rubble. The number of missing remains unclear, with reports of more than 2,700 people missing. The earthquake caused extensive damage in several cities, including Cali, Pereira and Manizales, with buildings collapsing and infrastructure damaged. Search and rescue operations are continuing in the hardest-hit areas, as authorities hope to find survivors.

Due to the worsening situation and reports of looting, authorities have deployed additional security forces on the ground. Around 1,000 officers have been deployed in Cali, while similar measures have been taken in other cities to maintain order.


Meanwhile, the Colombian Geological Survey has recorded dozens of aftershocks after the main earthquake. Emergency teams continue to work without interruption, while authorities warn that the tremors may continue in the coming days. Search and rescue operations remain underway, while fears are that the death toll could rise further.
