French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot has strongly condemned the increase in executions in Iran, accusing the Iranian regime of continuing its repression of the people, seven months after mass protests.
"Seven months after the massive crimes committed against the Iranian people, who rose up to demand justice and dignity, the regime continues the bloodshed, increasing executions. This intolerable and inhumane repression must stop," Barrot wrote on the X platform.

The French statement was immediately rejected by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. He accused France of hypocrisy and urged Paris not to lecture the world on human rights and international law.
"Countries like France should stop preaching to the world about 'human rights' and international law. This hypocrisy is blatant and shameful," Araghchi declared.

He expanded the criticism by referring to the war in Gaza and the conflict with Israel, claiming that France's support for Israel has stripped it of any "moral superiority."
The clash between the two ministers comes at a time when international concern over the use of the death penalty in Iran has increased, particularly against people convicted of charges related to protests and national security.
