A powerful earthquake measuring 6.7 on the Richter scale has struck northern Japan. The Japan Meteorological Agency has issued a tsunami warning, with waves of up to one meter.
The quake struck about 130 kilometers off the coast of Kuji city, Iwate Prefecture, on the main island of Honshu.
Just last Tuesday, a 7.6-magnitude earthquake was recorded about 80 kilometers off the coast of Japan, with an epicenter at a depth of 50 kilometers, causing a 40-centimeter wave that hit the city of Urakawa in Hokkaido Prefecture and the port of Mutsu Ogawara in Aomori Prefecture.
