A protester from the Albanian diaspora took the floor during the civic rally in Tirana that has just begun, emphasizing the contribution that immigrants make to their families and promising that they will be present at the protest every day.
"I am here today to show that the diaspora is not here for just one day, but we will be here every day," she declared to the participants.
In her speech, the protester emphasized the economic support that immigrants provide to families in Albania, saying that they buy medicine for their parents, pay water and electricity bills, and help cover daily expenses.
"Let's be frank, the diaspora buys free healthcare for mothers and fathers, pays for water and electricity. Without the diaspora, thousands of families would not be able to survive," she said.
The protester described emigration as a constant sacrifice, remembering mothers and fathers who live far from their children, as well as young people who work abroad to support families in Albania.
According to her, the country is "kept alive by those who work far away," while calling on citizens and the diaspora to continue their engagement in the protests taking place in the capital.
