The Assembly of Kosovo will continue today the proceedings of the constitutive session of the 11th Legislature, with the aim of concluding the process of constituting the legislative institution.

The session will begin at 11:00, while the only item on the agenda is the election of the five deputy speakers of the Assembly.

Candidates from political entities and non-majority communities have already been proposed for these positions. The Vetëvendosje Movement has proposed Ardian Gola, the PDK has proposed Vlora Çitaku, and the LDK has proposed Kujtim Shala.

From the Serbian community, the Serbian List has proposed Slavko Simiqi, while for the other non-majority communities Emilia Rexhepi has been proposed.

In the continuation of the session on Wednesday, Albulena Haxhiu was elected Speaker of the Assembly, with 62 votes in favor, 16 against and 13 abstentions, out of 102 deputies present.

After her election, the Assembly moved on to the procedure for electing deputy speakers, but the political parties did not reach an agreement on the voting method.

There was also debate over the nomination of the Serbian List candidate. MP Igor Simić presented Slavko Simić as a candidate "on behalf of the Serbian people", a formulation that was opposed by the Speaker of the Parliament.

Haxhiu requested that Simić withdraw this statement and present the proposal referring to the Constitution and the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly. Simić did not withdraw the statement, while Haxhiu interrupted his speech.

In the absence of agreement on the voting procedure, the proceedings were suspended and it was decided that the session would continue today.

The election of the vice-presidents remains the final step towards concluding the constitutive session of the 11th Legislature of the Assembly of Kosovo.
