The Municipality of Dimal held an emergency meeting of the Municipal Council today. The purpose of this meeting was to approve, by the votes of the council, the non-dissolution of the Municipality of Dimal.
Initially, the meeting held read the proposed report for the merger of the Dimal municipality and its unification with the Berat Municipality. According to the report, the only reasons presented in it were: the early historical connection, the former districts, the location along the Osum River and the existence of the Hospital in Berat, reasons that, according to the members of the Dimal Municipal Council, do not match the analysis of the experts' report.

According to municipal councilors, the Municipality of Dimal in the last 10 years has had an average of 38% of investments made with its active budget, ranking Dimal 5th in the country, while the Municipality of Berat has had this parameter at an average of 7%.

According to the councilors, contrary to what is considered in the report, the merger will not bring increased investment capacity to Dimal, the merger with Berat will negatively affect the economy of the area, especially for the farmers of this municipality who have been exporting their agricultural and greenhouse products to international markets for years. After discussions among the municipal councilors, everyone unanimously came to the conclusion that:

"In relation to this, contrary to Article 89, the advantages of this merger are not argued with either fakes or feasibility studies."
So, arguing that under these conditions the proposal is invalid, 18 out of 21 members of the Dimal Municipal Council have approved with "Pro" votes the invalidity of this proposal and with the same "Pro" votes the non-dissolution of Dimal as a municipality.
