Iran has responded to the United States' proposal to end the war, Iranian state media report.
According to IRNA, Tehran's response has been conveyed through Pakistan, while at this stage the negotiations are expected to focus initially on ending the conflict.
The American plan, if approved by both sides, aims to formally end the war before discussions begin on more sensitive issues, including the Iranian nuclear program.
A few days ago, Marco Rubio stated that Washington expected a response from Iran "within hours." However, Tehran's reaction came later than the deadline mentioned by the American side.
So far, Iranian media have not made public details on the content of the response, while it is expected that in the coming hours there will be more information on the progress of diplomatic contacts.
