The Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE Party) has expressed its support for Albanian citizens who have been protesting in Tirana for 45 days, while criticizing the government of Prime Minister Edi Rama for financing the concert of American rapper Kanye West with 4 million euros. Through a post on social networks, ALDE declares that “Albania is not for sale”, referring to the protests against corruption and the controversial investment project on the island of Sazan.

"Sorry, Trump family, Albania is not for sale. Thousands of Albanians have been protesting for weeks in the streets against corruption and the controversial project on the island. Meanwhile, the Albanian government is spending 4 million euros of public money on a Kanye West concert, despite his anti-Semitic and pro-Nazi statements. Liberals stand with the people of Albania. They deserve a government that serves its citizens, not powerful interests," ALDE's response reads.

In its statement, the pan-European party emphasizes support for the protesters and calls for a government that, according to it, puts the interests of citizens above special interests.

The ALDE Party is a pan-European political force that unites liberal and democratic parties from different countries in Europe and is part of the liberal political family in European institutions.
