Member of the National Council of the Democratic Party of Albania, Lisandër Hoxha, reacted through a post on the social network Facebook after the vote in the Assembly, where the majority led by Prime Minister Edi Rama decided not to authorize SPAK to arrest former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku.
In his reaction, Hoxha described the majority's decision as political protection against corruption, using strong tones against Prime Minister Rama.
"This is the face of a living political corpse. Edi Rama did not vote against SPAK's request today, but he voted against the Socialist Government," Hoxha writes.
He adds that, according to him, the vote in the Assembly showed the international community how corruption is protected in Albania. "Every Western chancellor saw with his own eyes today how major corruption is protected with the cards of fellow thieves," he emphasizes.
Hoxha also states that, according to him, there is no case in the world where a corrupt politician under indictment escapes justice only through a vote in parliament, adding that investigations will continue.
"Belinda Balluku is also finished, despite today's decision by her parliamentary group. Justice will not stop its efforts to continue the investigations to the end. Now it is Edi Rama's turn," he writes.
In his reaction, Hoxha states that the resignation of the prime minister is inevitable and that the coming weeks, according to him, will mark the end of the "Renaissance". He emphasizes that Albania needs political responsibility and a government that, according to him, does not obstruct justice and is committed to integration into the European Union.
According to Hoxha, the country needs a government that guarantees free and democratic elections, as well as a prime minister who enjoys the support of the United States of America in the country's democratic processes.
