The show "On Target" on News24, with author Klodiana Lala, publishes for the first time exclusively, the name of the person who disappeared 11 years ago, on January 19, 2015, whose remains were found in the Librazhd mountains, at the end of 2015.
The expertise of the bones and the DNA analysis, which also matched that of the parents, showed that they belong to Enton Janushi, who was also known as General Taulant Janushi or Taulant Maze.
"From the biological sample examined with DNA analysis prepared from bone material, taken during the exhumation of the unidentified corpse in the village of Babje Librazhd, on November 2, 2022, a genetic profile of the male sex valid for identification was obtained.
From the comparison carried out between the genetic profile of citizen Namik Janushi, examined by us with a special act, with the genetic profile obtained from bone material taken during the exhumation of the unidentified corpse in the village of Babje, Librazhd, on November 2, 2022, it is concluded that these two profiles represent the genetic connection between father and son.
Likewise, from the comparison carried out between the genetic profile of citizen S. Janushi, examined by us with a special act, with the genetic profile obtained from the bone material taken during the exhumation of the unidentified corpse in the village of Babje, Librazhd, on November 2, 2022, we conclude that these two profiles represent the genetic connection between mother and son," the DNA response states.
According to forensic expertise, the cause of his death was reportedly a fractured skull.
Enton Janushi, then 28 years old, disappeared at noon on January 19, 2015, where he was last seen near the Dry Lake in the area of the Tirana Zoo.
And from that moment on, no one had any information about his fate.
The last people to meet him before he disappeared were his parents, with whom he had just separated.
A story that no longer has any doubts about not only his fate, but also what happened to him.
The suspicions now seem to be confirmed, that Enton Janushi, after being kidnapped, was tortured and then killed in a barbaric manner, to be buried where, in the belief of his captors, no one would ever find his body.
Something that apparently delayed but did not forget. After a coincidence caused the bones to come to light and fall into the eyes of the shepherds of the area, who also filed a complaint with the police.
The forensic analysis states that, following initial information received that human remains had been found in a mountainous area in Librazhd, in the village of Babje, the Elbasan police, after going to the scene, exhumed several remains that were initially thought to belong to the famous tallava singer Renato Hamza, or as he was otherwise known, 'Reni i Elbasanit'.
But to reach this decision, the remains would first be compared to the missing singer's mother, where no match was found.
But who was Enton Janushi and why did he suffer such a cruel fate?
What is his connection to another macabre murder that shocked the Netherlands in January 2015, just days before he left the Netherlands and returned to Albania?
Excerpts from the documentary
Before we get to what happened to Enton Janushi, who also carried the generalities Taulant Janushi, or Taulant Maze, let's learn a little more about the circumstances of how he disappeared on January 19, 2015 in Tirana.
What were the last conversations he had with his father and girlfriend?
And why was he so worried after returning from the Netherlands, where it later turned out that he had been declared an international wanted man.
Who were the two names that, according to him, had met him at the Skopje airport, immediately after the flight he had taken from the Netherlands?
Statements that were actually made to the police by his father on February 26, 2015, just a few weeks after the 28-year-old had disappeared under unclear circumstances in Tirana.
"On February 26, 2015, at around 8:00 p.m., citizen Namik Janushi appeared at the premises of the Tirana Police Department and filed a criminal report, claiming that on January 19, 2015, he lost contact with his son, citizen Enton Janushi,
"And according to the complaint he made, Anthony left the apartment without an address and left his ID card and passport in the apartment. His suspicions are that his son may have been kidnapped," the investigative file states.
According to the testimony given by his father to the police, before leaving unexpectedly, Enton Janushi had just as suddenly returned to his apartment in Tirana.
Which had happened on January 17, 2015, just two days before he disappeared without a trace. During conversations with his son, he said that he saw him extremely worried, but without expressing the real reasons for this agitation.
"My son Anthony returned to Albania on January 17, 2015, at around 3:00 p.m. He had been in the Netherlands during this time.
"From the conversation with him, I learned that he had arrived in Albania by air to Skopje airport, together with a friend of his who told me his name is B. (M). Sh. Here, a person named Miri met them, and the three of them then, according to him, came towards Tirana," his father is reported to have said in his testimony to the police.
According to his father, that night of his return from abroad, Anthony had slept at his parents' apartment. But despite their insistence, he had not confessed about the anxiety that was tormenting him.
The next day he left the apartment and headed to the Zoological Gardens area in the capital, where he met his sister. But without returning, he spent the night at his parents' apartment. The last day they were seen alive was January 19, 2015.
"On January 18, 2015, Anthony left the apartment and went to meet his sister who lives near the Zoo area.
On January 19, 2015, at around 10:30, I went there with my wife and then we left for our apartment. That same day, a few hours later, a text message from my wife's son Entoni arrived on my phone with this content: 'I'll go out, when you come and don't find me, when I come back I'll write to you,'" Enton Janushi's father testified.
This was the last message and contact that Enton Janushi had with his family. From that moment on, he lost all contact with his family, who, apparently accustomed to his comings and goings, waited in vain in the hope that he would return to their apartment.
Meanwhile, his father, Namik Janushi, began to suspect that he might have been kidnapped, partly because Anthony had left the apartment without taking his identification.
"From the text message he sent to his mother's phone until today, when I am filing a missing person report, we have had no contact with Anthony and I have no knowledge of his whereabouts."
"So I suspect that the boy may have been kidnapped," he is reported to have said. Immediately after this denunciation, the investigative group began verifying data on Enton Janushi and his activity outside Albania.
Where initially the TIMS system was examined to see if the data declared by his father and narrated by his son corresponded with the findings of entry and exit at border crossing points, of him and the persons he had said accompanied him from Skopje airport until his arrival in Tirana.
Verifications in the TIMS system show that Enton Janushi entered Albania on January 16, 2015, at 04:12 through the Qafë Thana border crossing point as a pedestrian and used his passport as a travel document.
From the verifications it does not appear that on this date, together with him, the citizen B.(M.)Sh. also entered Albania. Likewise, it does not appear that on this date, the person named Miri, identified as the citizen F. (R). R, as claimed by the citizen Namik Janushi, left Albania.
But even though in the TIMS system, these people did not appear to have entered Albania with Enton Janushi, the investigative group nevertheless questioned the two people that the 28-year-old had confessed upon arriving at the apartment that they had been his companions, after landing at Skopje airport on January 16, 2015.
(M.) Sh. and F. (R.) R denied having accompanied Enton Janush, after his flight from the Netherlands.
"In connection with the removal of Enton Janushi from the apartment, citizens B. (M.) Sh. and citizen F. (R.) R. were also questioned.
The latter stated that he knows Anthony by the name 'Labi' and that he last met him in October 2014 and contacted him on the street together with citizen B. (M.) Sh.
"He also stated that he did not leave Albania on January 16 and 18," it says in the investigative file for the murder of Enton Janushi available to the show "Në Shënjestër".
And that he has not met with the citizen they call 'Labi'. According to the investigative group, these statements were also confirmed by the data of the TIMS system.
But also from the examination of the phones of the two aforementioned persons, who did not appear to have had any communications with the phone number used by Enton Janushi, from January 16 onwards.
Or even before this date. But at the same time as Enton Janushi's parents, now missing, the investigative group also questioned his girlfriend, the last person he had stayed with. Who, like Enton's parents, confessed that he was very worried, but without telling what had happened to him.
Asked about the disappearance of citizen Enton Janushi, citizen DT, who turns out to be his girlfriend, states that she met with Enton on January 17, 2015. And that they stayed together at the hotel until January 19, 2015 at around 2:00 p.m. At which time she broke up with him and left in her car towards Fier.
During the interview before the investigative group, Enton Janushi's girlfriend confessed that he had told her that he had arrived in Albania from the Netherlands on January 17, 2015. And seeing him very worried, she had tried several times to find out what had happened to him. But according to her, he had turned back at her harshly, telling her that it was none of his business.
During the interrogation, Enton Janushi's girlfriend said that she had learned from him that he had arrived from the Netherlands on January 17, 2015. She also said that he was very worried. But when she asked him what was wrong, he did not tell her anything.
He had just told her to leave him alone because they were none of his business. Regarding their last day, Enton Janushi's girlfriend said that they had spoken to each other until noon. But then all communication between them was cut off. The only thing he could tell her was that he was going out with some friends.
The investigative file states that, during questioning, Enton Janushi's girlfriend said, among other things, that on January 19, 2015, she had spoken to him on the phone and he had told her that he was going out with some friends.
According to her, the last communication between them had been on this date around 2:00 p.m., after which she had called his phone several times, but even though it was open, he did not answer her calls. Worried about losing contact with her boyfriend, she told the investigation team that he insisted on her calls for the next two days.
