Extreme heat wave sweeps across the Balkans, temperatures up to 39°C, risk of new records

The heat wave that has swept Western Europe in recent days is expected to hit the Balkans starting on Saturday, with temperatures in some places reaching up to 39 degrees Celsius.
According to the MeteoAlarm service, the entire Croatian Adriatic coast is now on red alert due to high temperatures and the risk they pose to the health of citizens.
National meteorological services predict that temperatures will rise to 39°C in parts of Serbia, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro from Sunday. According to forecasts, the heat wave will last at least until Monday.
In Belgrade, temperatures are expected to reach 36°C on Saturday, 38°C on Sunday, and 39°C on Monday and Tuesday, risking breaking the historic June record of 38.7°C, recorded in 2021.
Authorities are urging citizens to avoid sun exposure during the hottest hours of the day, to consume as much fluids as possible, and to take special care of the elderly, children, and people with health problems.
