Dr. Petrit Bara, Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences at Luarasi University, spoke about the features that make this faculty a preferred choice for high school graduates who want to pursue studies in the field of medicine. Invited to the studio of News24, Bara focused on the qualities offered to students at the Faculty of Medical Sciences, emphasizing the academic tradition, the teaching staff, professional practices, and employment opportunities after completing their studies.
"The Faculty of Luarasi has a good scientific and academic tradition, thanks to Professor Luarasi. It is a modern university with all the qualities. It has 4 faculties, Law, Economics, IT and the Faculty of Medical Sciences. Our faculty is committed to achieving the successes and results that Luarasi has had and has as a faculty. We want to make the Faculty of Medical Sciences an accomplished faculty", said Bara.
Speaking about students choosing this faculty, the dean said that the demands have been increasing, while a good portion of the young people who are accepted have very high results.
"In our faculty, we have students with high achievements, that is, with high averages, with 9.8. There are many demands in our faculty, also because of the Luarasi facility, which is in a central location, or because of the facilities. In our 5th year, we have realized all the weaknesses we had. Student admissions have been maximum," he said.
Bara also focused on professional practices, describing them as one of the most important elements of medical student training.
"In recent years, we have managed to ensure that dentistry internships are conducted in specialized chairs. Our faculty has very good internships, and internships are also conducted in very well-known clinics in the capital. We have signed contracts with many of these clinics, and many employment contracts have been made through these internships. We have a principle: whoever will graduate from us, we need competent teachers and we keep them there. 70% of our students who do internships in clinics or state hospitals are employed," declared the dean.
Focusing on the quality of teaching, Dr. Bara said that the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Luarasi aims to provide training in accordance with contemporary standards.
"The quality of teaching at the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Luarasi is at a contemporary level. We have many important names, such as Xheladin Çeqa, part of the academic staff. The vision of Luarasi University and the Faculty of Medical Sciences is to have an excellent scientific faculty, such as the building or the level of the lecturers," he said.
According to Dr. Bara, the combination of theoretical training, professional practices and the experience of academic staff is one of the main factors that aims to prepare young professionals for the labor market.
